Cars free Regent Park Athletic fields

From "Post your proposal here for the consideration of Councillor Moise"

Go to the project

Dear Councillor Chris Moise and Yussuf Hussein,

Dear City of Toronto Mayor and officials and Parking enforcement officers,

Every single day, cars are parked on the sidewalk at the Regent Athletic Grounds sports fields, located at 480 Shuter St, Toronto, ON M5A 3K1, while parents wait for their children to finish football practice.

This issue has already been reported several times in the past to the City of Toronto Parking Enforcement and to the Ward 13 Councillor’s office, as you can see from the previous emails reported to you.

Parking Enforcement has been called multiple times, but either they do not want to ticket the vehicles parked on the sidewalk, or they cannot locate the area. A few times, I watched from my window and they never showed up for hours after the complaint was made.

With the summer season approaching, this area will become even busier. As a city authority, it is important to ensure that sidewalks and sports field areas remain safe for everyone.

I kindly ask that the City consider installing signage, barriers, or other obstructions to prevent parents and visitors from parking on the sidewalk.

This sidewalk is located across from a seniors’ residence Chartwell , and many elderly residents use it regularly, along with children and families attending activities at the athletic fields.

Keeping this area safe and accessible for pedestrians should be a priority in the city of Toronto.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
