PB2025 - Heritage street banners to highlight additional historical buildings in the neighbourhood

This idea proposes to install more street banners to highlight the historical buildings of the heritage conservation district of the St. Lawrence neighbourhood. 

Transportation Services staff estimates that the cost for 1 banner is $500. A total of 10 locations will cost $5000 with materials and labour costs. Contracting complications may apply.

Original Description:

Promote the visual identity of heritage and cultural assets of the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood and St. Lawrence HCD.

Produce and install street pole banners, similar to the PB23 Original Ten Blocks banners, which celebrate historical buildings that stand/stood nearby. Suggested locations for PB25 include:

1. Little York Hotel

2. Laurent Quetton St. George home/Canada Company offices

3. Russell Abbey (1797) - second home of Peter Russell

4. Charles Steinle Meat Packing Company

5. The Stoyell/Union Hotel - where the Scientology building is today

6. William Jarvis House (1798) - n/w corner Sherbourne and Adelaide

7. The Don Blockhouse

8. Jordan’s Hotel

9. Campbell House original location

10. First Bank of Upper Canada
