Transportation Services Staff have reviewed this idea and determined it is not feasible. The addition of trees in connection with the 177 Front Street East redevelopment is currently under review by CIty staff as part of that development application. The trees at 88 Scott Street were reviewed by Transportation Services staff as part of the larger Wellington Street East revitalization project and were deemed by staff to be obstructing the heavy pedestrian movement at that corner. Our office will review potential future opportunities to add new street trees to that location when they arise.

Goal: Recover lost street landscape elements, using alternate planting design, if necessary
Locations:
1. Return street trees to n side of Esplanade between Sherbourne and Princess (south side of Time and Space, 177 Front St. E.)
2. Return street trees in front of 88 Scott St.
Approach:
• continue to evaluate planter options
• determine best design, placement options
• supplement funding gap if full funding not provided for 177 Front St. E. by Developer (Pemberton)
Budget: $50-$60,000
Note: This is one idea which can be scoped in a range of cost brackets, with associated investments ranging from modest to significant. It is hoped that there will be ongoing dialogue with the Councillor’s office to qualify and shape this idea further as design and cost input is received from staff experts at the City, and as the Developer’s contribution is quantified, prior to it being submitted for voting.
