Improve pedestrian scale lighting throughout the neighbourhood

The idea proposes to install additional pedestrian lighting throughout St James Park and potential additional lighting in Farquars Lanes 

Transportation Services staff have stated that based on past projects, each light would cost roughly $30,000. A set of 7 lights would be $210,000.

Original Description:

Goal: Develop opportunities to enhance the pedestrian experience with improved lighting in public spaces Sample locations: • additional lighting opportunities in St. James Park (not necessarily heritage) • additional lighting opportunities in Farquars Lane (not necessarily heritage) Approach • work with Urban Design to identify opportunities, costs • work with SLNA Streetscape Committee to prioritize Possible budget allocation: $20,000-$50,000 Note: This is one idea which can be scoped in a range of cost brackets, with associated investments ranging from modest to significant. It is hoped that there will be ongoing dialogue with the Councillor’s office to qualify and shape this idea further as design and cost input is received from staff experts at the City, and prior to it being submitted for voting.
