This request to install a traffic light or pedestrian crossing signal at Sirman Lane/ Jarvis Street has been brought to the Transportation Services Area Traffic Operations unit several times to study and review. They responded that Jarvis is a critical major artery for vehicular traffic, including motorists and TTC bus routes. City staff’s major concern is that there are traffic signals for crossing 120 meters away on both the north and south sides of the street. Too many traffic lights can cause major gridlock and potential danger to pedestrians crossing.
A pedestrian crossing signal can be suggested to Transportation Services to review as an alternative to minimize disruption of local traffic and TTC service routes. This can be completed outside of Participatory Budgeting through Traffic Regulation Review.

This has been brought up and ignored numerous times. The ballet school has recitals every sunday that bring families dangerously crossing the road. The ballet school runs daily having students dangerously crossing the road, and the Church st Public school also has numerous families crossing the street here to get to school.
A light must be installed, regardless of "traffic study" findings, because this isn't about Cars, stop thinking so much about cars, and care more about the safety of our neighbourhood.
Recently the city installed a speed camera, instead of solving the speeding problem with a light at the location of the installation to force traffic to slow down, and allow us to safely cross the street.
A pedestrian has been struck here, and a cyclist has died here, that should be more than enough to get this project greenlight.
