This idea is feasible outside the inclusion in the Participatory Budgeting process. This proposal falls under the purview of the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA Streetscape Master Plan, which is currently under development. My office will work with the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA to ensure we improve the pedestrian experience along the Front Street corridor.

Closing Market Street to traffic is a great start, encouraging both life and activity around the market. Pedestrianising Front St between Church and Jarvis would bring this vibrancy into a larger area which is just waiting to be enjoyed rather than being stifled by traffic and parked cars. Extending the St Lawrence Market buzz to surrounding businesses would let Torontonians enjoy the city as it was intended and bring additional economic activity (seasonal open air markets), especially with the new St Lawrence Market North opening very soon. St Lawrence can be about the neighbourhood with full enjoyment of the outside space and not just a thoroughfare for cars.
