Sherbourne Common an off leash area

From "Post your proposal here for the consideration of Councillor Moise"

Go to the project

Make Sherbourne Common an off leash park or create a fenced off leash dog park in Sherbourne Common. There are 100's of dog owners living in the vicinity of this area. It is the only park in the area big enough for residents of the nearby condos to take their dogs to. Dog owners have been good stewards of the park and have coexisted successfully with those that use the park for non-dog related activities. Deeming this park, what it is a self regulating off leash park, or creating a fenced off leash area in the park would result in a safer area for all. There are no dog parks within walking distance and the only park that would be big enough to accommodate the needs of the residents and their pets is half a kilometer away in David Crombie Park.

There IS an off leash, fenced in dog park at Aitken place park but it’s small. A fenced in park at sherbourne commons is desperately needed so that the park can be used by all. Making the entire park renders it essentially useless to humans for other activities, and at the moment the grass is being destroyed. A large fenced in area is desperately needed.

That fenced park is useless. So tiny with gravel on the ground, hurting dogs paws. The off-leash at Love Park is another disaster, so small that dogs bump into each other and on dogs parents. It looks like whoever is designing dog parks in this area does not have a clue of what dog AND the community (with thousands of dog owners) need.

Odds are a big part of our family and lives. We need to have more off leash parks and areas.

David Crombie Park is not fenced and is surrounded by roads. We need a REAL LARGE, fenced dog park, not tiny places such as the Love Park off-leash area, where dogs bump into each other and hurt themselves so small the space is. Dog owners were very hopeful with the project but very disappointed with the result. A waste of tax payers money, projected with lack of understanding of the residents and visitors profile to the area. The huge, useless pond could be transformed in a decent off-leash area, replacing the current tiny one.
