Slow Street Design on Mill Street
From "Traffic Regulation Review - Fall 2023"
Go to the project
The posted speed on Mill Street is 30km/hr due to the heavy pedestrian and cyclist traffic. Unfortunately, drivers often use Mill Street as a shortcut to avoid Front and Eastern Streets on their way to the Gardiner, leading to higher speeds as they look to make it to Parliament Street. Please consider redesigning Mill Street, particularly around the Distillery District, to slow down drivers. For example, narrowing lane to accommodate widening sidewalks, raised intersections to encourage vehicles to actually stop, curb extensions to calm traffic.
