Eitan Straisfeld

Member since January 10, 2023

Retired financial professional who has lived in the Church Wellesley area with my wife for about a decade. Originally born in Montreal, lived in the Dominican Republic for a year as a kid, then family moved to Toronto in 1980. Studied in Canada and the USA and worked in South Korea as an English teacher for about 3 years (love the Korean food). Also a Canadian Armed Forces Reservist for 5 years.

Love the vibrancy of the neighborhood (it's pretty unique in the city) but more could be done to clean it up.

Wellesley Station Mural Project

Eitan Straisfeld•3 years ago This idea proposes to decorate the current brown facade directly above the structure of Wellesley Station with a colourful mural. Art pieces must go through holistic community consultation upon approval. Street Art TO estimated that the project would cost $80,000 with materials and labour. Complications may apply. Internal ID: PB2023-EDC-328*Note: Ideas that proceed to the voting stage are edited by my office to ensure they are clear, concise, and is complete with images. For accountability and transparency purposes, the original description, as input by the resident, can be found below.Original Description:Hi - Directly above the main entrance to Wellesley Station (on the north side of Wellesley, directly across from the Green P), there is a large patch of brown aluminum siding. I believe it is the south wall of a parking garage for a rental building on Dundonald (picture attached). I've always thought a bright mural on this space would really improve the neighborhood. As it is, the intersection is kind of run-down and anything with more color would be an improvement. ThanksNote: This is one idea which can be scoped in a range of cost brackets, with associated investments ranging from large to very significant. It is hoped that there will be ongoing dialogue with the Councillor’s office to qualify and shape this idea further as design and cost input is received from staff experts at the City, and prior to it being submitted for voting.
