Councillor Moise2 years ago I wanted to flag an issue that's occurring on Palace St. in Corktown. This street, from the stretch that goes from Rolling Mills Rd. and then connects with Front St. has become virtually impassible and has created a very dangerous driving situation. On a number of occasions I've witnessed school buses being blocked and unable to move and cars having to back up the entire stretch of the road because it's been reduced to ONE LANE on a street that's intended to have two lanes--one in each direction--for cars to drive on. I worry about the ability for emergency vehicles to make it through this street too. The issue is being caused by a large number of cars that all have disability parking passes (one day when I counted there were 12 cars) parking on the south and east side of Palace St. (the road runs east west then turns and runs north south near the George Brown Student Residence). I've attached pictures and a video to show you just how unsafe driving on this street has become as a result. I'm not sure what can be done to make the street safe for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists again, but I wanted to ensure you were aware of it.

There have been numerous safety walks and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) Audits.The Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area has done their best to try and host small events in and around the park but the safety issues linger.The park needs to be naturally animated and activated with the addition of a small off-leash dog park along with better lighting.With a great deal of new density coming to the immediate area, a dog off-leash area would also provide a space for dogs and their owners to safely socialize while also supporting the community's safety objectives with more eyes and activity happening in the park on a regular basis.
