Adelaide Watermain Replacement & Cycle Track Flip

The planned construction along Adelaide Street for watermain replacement between York Street and Victoria Street, and streetcar track reinstatement work between Charlotte Street and York Street allows an opportunity to implement upgrades for the road corridor. We want you and your neighbor's input!

Currently, Adelaide street is a single directional street heading eastwards with cycling lanes on the south side of the street. Everyday over 300 commercial delivery vehicles require access to buildings on the south side of Adelaide St. (i.e First Canadian Place and Scotia Plaza). This means that currently, many cyclists are required to merge dangerously into motorist lanes to avoid stopped vehicles.

The proposed relocation of the cycling lane to the north side of Adelaide street seeks to eliminate conflicts between delivery vehicles and cyclists.

This proposed change will prospectively also improve motorist, delivery, and cyclists' overall safety.
