Allan Gardens Heritage Restoration
About the Project
The City is restoring the historic Palm House building at Allan Gardens Conservatory.
The current Palm House opened in 1910 following a fire that destroyed the previous pavilion. This vital work will preserve and improve an iconic Toronto building for future generations to enjoy.
The improvements will include window glazing, glass cladding replacement and functional modernization of the ventilation and air quality systems and controls.
Additionally, New barrier free public washroom facilities with improved access from the Conservatory, Park and Playground will be installed.
As of the end of March 2023, the necessary interior scaffolding platforms will be installed so that the existing interior access ladder can be disassembled and removed.
Portable washrooms are available in the parking lot area, near the playground. Two of the portable washrooms (one is accessible) are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Friends of Allan Gardens is a non-profit group working with the City and dedicated to preserving and enhancing Allan Gardens. You can support the Friends by donating online
The conservatory will continue to be open during construction.
Portable washrooms are available outside in the parking lot, near the playground. One accessible and one regular portable washroom are available.
