Breadalbane Street Improvements
Councillor Chris Moise is pleased to announce a significant infrastructure upgrade scheduled for 2025. Encompassing Breadalbane Street, between Yonge Street and Bay Street. Proposed streetscape enhancements on Breadalbane Street will improve the overall public realm by visually connecting the two public parks (Dr. Lillian McGregor Park and Opera Place Park) on the street, and by potentially calming traffic and reducing vehicular speeds. Increased infiltration of rain and snow melt through the road surface and using permeable pavers on Breadalbane Street will help in achieving City green development and sustainability guidelines and objectives.
this comprehensive project will include improvements that focus on:
•Safe crossings integrated with green infrastructure and seating and other streetscape elements, wherever feasible.
•Laneway improvement coordination with Asset Management
•Streetscape improvements in coordination with development applications.

1.Pedestrian Connections
•Green loop pedestrian crossing connecting the green spaces
•Safer crossings at Bay St and Yonge St
•Seat walls
2.Traffic Calming
•Curb extensions to “pinch” the road
•Rumble zone
3.Green infrastructure
•To capture storm water in planter areas
•New trees, tree rehabilitation
•Native plantings
•Bicycle rings
Benefits
•Offer traffic calming by “pinching the roadway”reducing vehicle speeds and turning vehicle speeds
•Reduces crossing distances for pedestrians, improves sight lines and improves accessibility and user experience for all pedestrians
•Provides more public space for pedestrians, new trees, plantings, green infrastructure (storm water capture) and street furniture like seating, bicycle racks etc.
Trade-offs
•May require removal of some on-street parking spaces
