Callaghan Lane Reconstruction - Berkeley St to Parliament St

The City of Toronto reconstructed 3 laneways in Cabbagetown South in 2020, limited to between Ontario Street and Berkely Street. This work was part of the Counci-Approved 2019 Capital Works Program to renew aging city roads and laneways for current and future needs. However, additional work is needed to keep our laneways up to State-Of-Good-Repairs.

Councillor Moise made an on-site visit to the laneways in May 2024 and has requested to expedite the extended reconstruction of Callaghan Lane from Berkely Street to Parliament Street to begin in 2025.

The design of the reconstructed laneway will include a permeable paving solution that will be consistent with the laneway design to the west of Calgie Lane to provide additional flood protection.

Construction will include replacement of the entire laneway pavement structure, including the asphalt, concrete and underlying support materials.

Repair, improvement, or replacement of laneway drainage, curbs, and associated areas will be included in this work.
