Drover and Verner Lane Revitalization

The revitalization of Drover and Verner lanes is an exciting new project initiated by the office of Councillor Chris Moise, through Toronto Centre Project's Proposals. This initiative is inspired by the successful transformation of laneways in Vancouver, specifically the Alley Oop project, which turned a once lonely and underused laneway space into a vibrant and inviting area. Our goal is to bring similar energy and life to these lanes in Toronto.

This project is more than just a beautification effort; it aims to create a space that encourages foot traffic and fosters community engagement. By co-designing the project with input from local residents, we hope to ensure that the new design meets the needs and desires of those who live and work in the area.

The total cost for this revitalization effort is $330,000, funded through section 37 community benefits, highlighting our commitment to investing in the community. The design and planning phases are set to begin in the fall of 2025, with Phase 1 installations planned for late fall of 2025 and Phase 2 for spring of 2026. We anticipate that the project will be completed by the summer of 2026, providing a fresh and inviting space for everyone to enjoy.

Transforming Drover and Verner lanes is not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating a sustainable and functional space that benefits the entire community. By fostering a sense of ownership among residents, we aim to encourage long-term sustainability and vibrancy in the area. We believe that by working together, we can create a bright future for these lanes and the community around them.
