College Station and King Station TTC Accessibility Improvements

College Station (Line 1) will be getting a new second exit/entrance, and elevators to improve customer safety, accessibility and convenience. 

This work will include:

• The construction of a new concourse south of the existing concourse.
• The new concourse will combine new elevators and a second exit/entrance through College Park.

What to expect:

• The work zone is set up on Yonge Street, south of College Street.
• Work to be completed in stages to reduce impact on local area, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
• Temporary road decking is installed to maintain sidewalks and one lane of traffic in each direction through the Yonge/College intersection.
• Subway service is running throughout construction.

Intermittent utility investigations are required as part of the design phase and are scheduled to take place as early as February 10, 2025 for approximately 2 weeks.

Construction for the King Station Capacity Enhancement project is scheduled to begin as early as Spring 2027.

This project will include:

• The barrier-free path from the main entrance to all levels of the station including installation of:
• Three elevators to be constructed (E1, E2, E3) to concourse and platform levels via the PATH
• Accessible Paths include:
• From Street level (King and Bay)
• From Street level (Melinda)
• Combined through Commerce Court Food Court
• Accessible PRESTO fare line and automatic sliding doors 
• Improved signage including wayfinding
• CCTV – Security cameras
• Public art installation as a part of the TTC Public Art Program

TTC is currently working to build elevators that will make King Station accessible. Construction crews on behalf of TTC have begun construction work at street level on Elevator "E1" on Melinda Street and Elevator "E3" at Yonge and Colborne Streets.
