Market Street Pedestrianization

Last summer, St. Lawrence residents enjoyed a pedestrianized Market Street, between Front Street East and The Esplanade. This work was jointly spearheaded by the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association and the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood Business Improvement Area (BIA). Through the BIA, the street was animated through additional seating, live entertainment and pop-up vendors.

While the closure last year was temporary, I support the permanent closure and pedestrianization of Market Street. I have directed staff to allow for another temporary closure this year while Transportation Services works through the details of the permanent closure. I look forward to seeing you on Market Street this summer, and thank you for your support of the St. Lawrence Market and local businesses!
