Rosedale Valley Trail Reconstruction and Wellesley Park Switchback
Rosedale Valley Road has been selected as part of the City’s Transportation Capital Program and State of Good Repair. By renewing the trail, the plan is to extend the life and improve the park-goer experience. As such, this project is one of the City’s Cycling Network Plans to make green spaces more accessible and comfortable for the overall trail experience.
Current Issues at Rosedale Valley consist of poor trail pavement condition, limited and inaccessible access, and major drainage issues caused by natural downstream erosion.
Connection to Wellesley Park
The existing wooden staircase that connects Wellesley Park to the Rosedale Valley Road MUT is at end-of-life and is not accessible to cyclists, strollers, or mobility-aid devices–ramps needed. Additionally, there is no currently existing paved trail that leads park-goers through Wellesley park to the top of the staircase. An alternative route that accommodates wheeled accessibility needs and bicycles, forgoing the use of stairs, would span approximately 1.8 Kilometres from Rosedale Valley Road to Wellesley Park.
